X-rays consists of technical and professional services.
Regular Business
Use one of the following type of service codes.
- 5: Total fee charge which includes both the technical and professional services. X-rays taken in the physicians office, but sent to a radiologist for interpretation, bill using this type service. The radiologist must have a reimbursement arrangement with the physician and does not bill for the professional component.
- P: Charge is for professional services only. Physician reads or interprets x-ray. Used to bill for x-rays on hospital inpatient or outpatients only since technical services are billed through the hospital.
