Hospital Tiered Program Requirements

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama Hospital Tiered Network is being updated effective January 1, 2010. Historically, there have been three primary components of the tiered hospital criteria: Fiscal, Quality, and Patient Safety. In 2010 a new component is being added for Patient Experience. Within each of these components, various indicators will be measured and scored. Every hospital will be measured against the same criteria and a composite score will determine the hospital’s tiered designation.
