Value-Based Initiatives

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama has completed a comprehensive review of fee schedules and allowances to develop a broad provider payment and quality roadmap that encompasses physicians, hospitals and other healthcare professionals. Moving into the next phase of the roadmap, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama is launching the first physician specialty specific Value-Based Payment (VBP) Program. Over the coming months, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama will continue in collaboration with physician leaders, medical specialty representatives and industry experts to identify criteria that can be used to reinforce value-added quality and efficient healthcare delivery that will benefit our members.
