Gold Health Insurance Plans
Based on the Affordable Care Act, health insurance plans are grouped into four categories called metal levels. These categories are not based on quality of care, provider network, or the amount of care you receive, but rather on the share of healthcare costs.
Under the gold level plans, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama pays 80 percent of healthcare coverage on average throughout the year. You pay the remaining 20 percent. This is for the overall costs incurred, including coinsurance, copayments and out-of-pocket maximums. The coverage for individual services may vary depending on the specific plan you choose.
