During the Public Health Emergency (PHE), over-the-counter (OTC) COVID-19 FDA-authorized test kits are covered for eligible members and will be reimbursed with no member cost share based on the federal guidance.

Currently, Blue Advantage, BlueRx, C Plus, and Short Term Limited Duration plans are not included in the federal requirement for coverage.

1095-B Tax Form Message

The IRS no longer requires us to automatically mail Form 1095-B to members. However, you may still obtain a copy by logging into your myBlueCross account, or request a copy by calling the customer service phone number on the back of your ID card.

Medical Review Institute of America data breach.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama has been made aware that a small number of our members have been impacted by the data breach at the Medical Review Institute of America, an organization that conducts certain clinical reviews for three external Blue Cross vendors that help administer our members’ health plans.
