During the Public Health Emergency (PHE), over-the-counter COVID-19 test kits are covered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield with no member cost share (limited to 8 test kits per covered member each month). Members who purchase a test kit should file a claim to be reimbursed.


Claims can be filed electronically by logging in to your account or by submitting a Medical Expense Claim Form along with the test kit receipt.

Medical Review Institute of America data breach.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama has been made aware that a small number of our members have been impacted by the data breach at the Medical Review Institute of America, an organization that conducts certain clinical reviews for three external Blue Cross vendors that help administer our members’ health plans.
