Blue Cross Gives Back to the Community with Eighth Annual Day of Caring
BIRMINGHAM, AL – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama is giving back to the community statewide by hosting its eighth annual Day of Caring. On Saturday, May 4, more than 500 employees and their families will work on projects that will make a positive difference in Alabama.

Give Back to the Community remains one of our corporate values and is one of the most important things we can do as a company,” says Tim Vines, President and CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. “By working together and using our resources, we can continue to make a positive impact in the lives of Alabamians and the communities we serve.”

Day of Caring community projects will be held statewide at the following times and locations:

Volunteers will paint canvas pictures for United Way Area Agency on Aging and will also assemble:
  • Personal care kits for United Way Area Agency on Aging and other local senior centers, Firehouse Shelter, Pathways and Veterans
  • Bicycles for United Way’s bike safety program
  • Activity kits for Success by 6 Pre K program
  • Silverware packets for Meals on Wheels
  • Snack packs for Ronald McDonald House guests
  • School pouch kits for Girls Inc. of Central Alabama

Please note for Mobile, the bags will be assembled at the Blue Cross District Office
then delivered to Lifeline Counseling Services located at 705 Oak Circle Drive North.
