Against RSV

A Healthy You Starts with
an RSV Vaccine

As you age, your immune system naturally weakens, making it harder to fight off infections like Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). Vaccines are a safe way to boost your immune system, prevent serious illness, and improve your quality of life.

What is RSV?

RSV is a common virus that affects the lungs and can make breathing difficult. While it often feels like a cold, it can be dangerous for older adults, especially those with heart or lung problems or weak immune systems.

RSV can also lead to serious lung infections like pneumonia, and it can worsen with conditions like asthma, COPD, or heart failure.

Why Get Vaccinated?

RSV spreads easily through coughs and sneezes, and it can live on surfaces for 4 to 7 hours. People with RSV can spread the virus for 3 to 8 days, even before they feel sick. Older adults, especially those with heart or lung conditions, are at higher risk of becoming sick from RSV. Vaccines help protect you from severe illness and lower your chance of hospital visits.

Additional Ways to Protect Yourself from RSV

  • Hands under running water

    Frequent Handwashing

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after being in public places or around someone who is sick.

  • Disinfectant spray bottle

    Clean Surfaces

Use disinfectant wipes or spray to clean frequently touched surfaces, such as doorknobs, countertops, and toys.

  • Outline of a face with hands

    Avoid Touching Your Face

This helps prevent the virus from entering your body through your eyes, nose, or mouth.

  • Group of people

    Steer Clear of Crowds

Avoid crowded places during cold and flu season, especially if you have underlying health conditions.
